Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra Children’s Choir

Established in October 2017 through the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra’s social commitment, this professional training platform cultivates young vocal talents by leveraging orchestral resources. It delivers systematic vocal pedagogy to develop exceptional choristers and build a world-class children’s choir.
Comprising Shenzhen children aged 6-14, singers receive tiered instruction based on age and skill level from accomplished educators. Dr. T.J. Harper (ACDA International Exchange Director) serves as Music Director, with teaching led by Qiaoyue Liu and Ting Guo. Soprano Li’an Chen is Artistic Advisor, and the chorus has benefited from mentorship by Ai Hooi Lim (Singapore International Choral Festival).
Regular concert engagements with professional ensembles including the Shenzhen Symphony elevate artistic standards. The chorus debuted successfully at Shenzhen Concert Hall on June 2, 2018 with a charity concert for Children’s Day, garnering public acclaim. Subsequent participation in One Foundation campaigns, Women's Federation fundraisers, and environmental initiatives demonstrates sustained civic engagement.
Significant collaborations feature: Puccini’s Turandot and Centenary Gala Concert with Shenzhen Symphony; Orff's Carmina Burana with Shanghai Opera House; Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 at Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou.
In 2021, we earned the Gold Prize in the Children’s Category at the Taipei International Choir Competition, claimed a Gold Award at the World Choir Festival’s international competition, and received an Outstanding Diploma in the Children’s Category at the World Choir Games. In 2024, achieved double gold prizes at the Singapore International Choral Festival.
These experiences provide artistic development opportunities while fostering joy through musical discovery.
