Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra Children’s Choir




Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra Children’s Choir was founded in October 2017 as a nonprofit initiative of the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra. It provides a professional platform for young singers in Shenzhen to learn and develop vocal artistry through structured training, with the goal of building a top-tier children's choir.

Members aged 5–17 are grouped by age and skill level. Instruction is led by respected teachers including LIU Qiaoyue and GUO Ting, with lyric coloratura soprano CHEN Li’an as Artistic Advisor and Dr. T.J. Harper of the ACDA as Guest Conductor. The choir has also received coaching from LIM Ai Hooi, Chairperson of the Singapore International Choral Festival.

The choir regularly performs with professional ensembles such as the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, steadily raising its artistic standards. Its successful 2018 debut at Shenzhen Concert Hall was followed by frequent participation in charitable events, including fundraisers for the One Foundation and the Women's Federation.

Notable collaborations include performances of Puccini’s Turandot and a Centenary Gala with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Carmina Burana with Shanghai Opera House, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 with Xinghai Conservatory of Music.

The choir has earned numerous international honors, including gold prizes in Taipei (2021) and at the World Choir Festival (2021), an Outstanding Diploma at the World Choir Games (2021), and double gold at the Singapore International Choral Festival (2024). In 2025, it made history by winning the Grand Prix and four major awards at the 7th WYCF World Youth Choir Festival in Jeju. In 2026, the choir was selected as a ‘Model Performing Ensemble’ for the 37th ISME World Conference and have been invited to participate in this prestigious event in Montreal, Canada, in the summer of 2026.
